Being an orthodontist has afforded me so many pleasures and rewards. I have found it so very fulfilling to be such an important part of my patients’ decision to better their health and happiness through orthodontic treatment. I have always made it a priority to be as supportive of my patients as possible, and I have been honored in taking part in the joy they experience when their treatment is complete.

Education
My formal education began at the University of Pittsburgh, where I received my Bachelor of Science degree. I stayed at the school and enrolled in its School of Dental Medicine to complete my Doctorate of Dental Medicine. After, I attended the University of Maryland’s School of Dentistry to complete my Master of Science and receive my Orthodontic Certificate.

Continuing education
I understand the importance what staying abreast of the latest and most advanced trends in the ever-evolving field of orthodontics means for my patients, so I regularly attend continuing education courses. Through holding membership in the following professional affiliations, I am also able to stay at the cutting edge of orthodontics so that I can bring only the most efficient and gentle treatments to my patients:

My commitment to staying as current as possible in the orthodontic field is one reason why my practice was the first in the area to use a digital orthodontic scanner, and one of the first to use the Damon Clear™ braces. I am always trying to maintain the highest level of technology for the benefit of my patients.

In the community
Since moving to the Harrisburg area in 1998, I have loved being a part of such a caring community that has given me so much. This is why I make an effort to give back to those in my area. I support the Association of Family and Friends for the Hershey Medical Society, the MS Society, and I sponsor many of our patients’ events or fundraisers, such as sports, theatre, music, dance, and cheering. I am also a participant in my local church as a lector.

At home
I met my husband, Thomas Appleby, who is a general dentist in the area, while we were both in dental school. Together, we have been incredibly blessed with an amazing family that consists of our sons, Aidan and Andrew. Being a mom to my two wonderful and handsome boys is my greatest source of pride. Family is one of the most important things in my life, so my family and I stay very close to our immediate and extended family members.

Leisure time is something I wish I had a little bit more of, but when I am able to steal away from the office, I love to travel with my husband and sons. I also enjoy yoga, exercise, dancing, reading, going to the theatre, playing the piano, and staying fashionable.
